Practical information for your trip

The best time to visit Rabat is in spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October). During these months, temperatures are pleasantly mild, making it ideal for exploring the historic sites, strolling through the medina, and walking along the Atlantic coast.

Thanks to its coastal location, Rabat generally has a more moderate climate than inland cities like Marrakesh, but summer can still become warm, especially in July and August. Winter is relatively mild compared to many European destinations, although occasional rain showers are more common.

For comfortable sightseeing, fewer crowds, and enjoyable coastal walks, spring and autumn offer the best overall conditions.

The city lies directly on the Atlantic coast and offers several beaches, including Plage de Rabat and the long sandy beach near Kasbah of the Udayas.

However, the Atlantic Ocean here can be quite powerful. Waves are often strong, and currents can be present, so it’s important to pay attention to local conditions and warning flags. During the summer months, beaches are more lively and popular with locals, while outside peak season they tend to be quieter.

While Rabat is not primarily known as a classic beach destination, combining cultural sightseeing with a relaxing walk or swim by the ocean makes it a pleasant and refreshing addition to your stay.

We recommend spending two days in Rabat to truly appreciate the city’s calm and elegant character. Unlike other Moroccan cities, Rabat feels relaxed and spacious, which makes it perfect for exploring at an unhurried pace.

On your first day, you can visit landmarks such as the Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, stroll through the charming blue-and-white streets of the Kasbah of the Udayas, and enjoy a walk along the Atlantic coastline.

The second day allows you to discover places like Chellah, linger in small cafés, and experience the medina beyond the main paths. Two days in Rabat mean culture, ocean views, and a refined atmosphere – without the rush.
