The months from December to March are ideal for winter holidays and skiing, as ski resorts such as Zermatt, Verbier, and Saas-Fee are perfectly groomed and snow conditions are reliable. However, many mountain passes in Valais, such as the Furkapass and Grimselpass, are closed during this season, making roadtrips via high mountain routes impossible.
