The Seealpsee lies like a hidden treasure in the Appenzellerland. Surrounded by breathtaking nature that will make your heart beat faster - and not just because of the ascent :-P. From the very first glimpse of the still water reflecting the peaks and the tranquillity that surrounds you - this mystical place quickly casts its spell over you.

If you have time, visit the nearby village of Gonten. Stroll through the typical Appenzell village centre and be sure to sample the local specialities.

How do I get there?
From Zurich it is an approximate one-hour drive to the paid car park in Wasserauen, Appenzell IR. If the car park is full, don’t worry, there are usually cadets who will guide you to a nearby farm. You can park there for the whole day for just 5 francs. From there you can easily set off in the direction of Seealpsee. It is also possible to use public transport. In this case, you will need about 2 hours from Zurich main station via St. Gallen by train and bus, as there is no direct connection to Wasserauen.
TIP: Pack everything you need for a great picnic and let nature work its magic on you. Delicious food and perhaps a glass of wine if you like rounds off the whole thing perfectly in our opinion.
